NWI Spaces is an independent kitchen and bath design studio serving Northwest Indiana. Not a showroom. Not a big firm. Just considered, hands-on design work for homeowners who want a thoughtful plan — and a real person behind it.
I started NWI Spaces because most homeowners don't need a ninety-page proposal or a showroom tour. They need a clear direction, a few good decisions, and someone in their corner who's actually done this before. That's the studio, in one sentence.
Before this studio, I spent a decade working on kitchens and baths at every scale — tight urban baths and warm farmhouse kitchens, rental flips and full custom homes. I've stood in a lot of rooms at 7am with a contractor, a homeowner, and a measuring tape, figuring out how to make the space actually work. That's the part I love. The design is the visible output, but the real job is taking a stack of constraints — budget, layout, lighting, the way a family actually moves through the morning — and shaping them into something that finally clicks.
I work mostly with homeowners who want more than a Pinterest board and less than a full interior design firm retainer. People who are remodeling one room, or two, and want the work to feel intentional instead of assembled. People who've been stuck in the "should we just replace the tile?" loop for six months and want someone to quietly untangle it.
I keep the studio small on purpose. Every project gets my attention, my phone number, and my name on the final plan. And every project starts the same way — with a few photos from your phone, and a real conversation about what you actually want this room to do.
A kitchen should still feel good in ten years. We design around how you'll use the space, not what's viral this quarter — though we'll absolutely borrow a good idea when it earns its place.
Budgets, plumbing, load-bearing walls, the fact that your dog sleeps right there — the best designs bend around real life. We treat constraints as input, not as something to apologize for.
You won't be handed off to a junior. The person who reads your intake is the person who writes your concept, runs your call, and signs off on your plan. Continuity matters.
You'll get plainspoken documents you can actually hand to a contractor, not designer jargon wrapped in a PDF. If we can't explain a choice, we don't make it.
Some decisions should take an afternoon. Some should take a week. The studio is structured so we can pace to the decision, not to an artificial sprint.
Most of our projects aren't magazine spreads. They're family kitchens and everyday baths in homes people love. That's the work we're proudest of.
Hands-on design experience before launching the studio, across homes of every scale.
Kitchens, primary baths, powder rooms, laundry, entertaining spaces — the rooms where life actually happens.
No handoffs, no layered approvals. The person you hire is the person you work with, the whole way through.
