NWI Spaces
The Spaces process

A clear path from "I want to change this room" to "we did."

No showroom visits to get started. No overwhelming software. No generic mood boards. Just a quiet, structured process built around your home and the way you live in it.

Five steps

From first photo to finished direction.

Most clients complete the intake in under ten minutes. From there, we do the heavy lifting.

01

Capture your space

Walk through the room on your phone and take a handful of photos — wide shots of each wall, a ceiling and floor shot, and close-ups of anything you love or want to change. We'll send a short checklist to make sure nothing's missed. If you have rough measurements, great. If not, that's fine too.

02

Upload & share your goals

Drop your photos into the intake form and answer a few short questions — how you use the space now, what's frustrating, what you're hoping to change. You'll also pick your timeline and a comfortable budget range. It takes about ten minutes.

03

Choose your style

Select the styles that resonate — warm traditional, modern calm, spa-quiet, bold and layered, or a blend. You can save reference images or point to specific rooms you've been drawn to. This is the fastest part, and the most fun.

04

Receive concept direction

Within a few days we'll send back initial concept boards — typically two or three distinct directions with layout notes, material palettes, and example products. Everything is reviewed by your designer before it reaches you, so nothing generic slips through.

05

Refine together

Schedule a call or video session to walk through the concepts, ask questions, and refine. We'll adjust layouts, swap finishes, and sharpen the direction until it feels exactly right. From there, you can take your plan to a contractor — or stay with us for deeper selection and specification support.

What you receive

Clarity you can actually act on.

Concept boards

Two or three curated directions for your space — visual, considered, and distinct enough that you can actually tell them apart.

Layout notes

Practical guidance on flow, storage, sight lines, and what to preserve versus rework. Based on how the room is actually used.

Material palette

Cabinetry, counters, tile, hardware, and paint — narrowed down to a palette that holds together, with alternates at multiple price points.

Product shortlist

Example faucets, lighting, and fixtures that match the direction — so you're not starting from scratch when it's time to buy.

A designer call

A dedicated session to review concepts, adjust direction, and answer questions. Not scripted. Not rushed.

A plan you can use

Everything you need to confidently talk to contractors, order materials, or step into the next phase of your remodel.

Common questions

Answers to what most people ask first.

Do I need to measure my space before I start?

Nope. Rough measurements help, but they're not required to get started. We can work from photos and general dimensions. When it's time to spec a layout for a contractor, we'll walk you through exactly what to measure — or coordinate a measure with a local pro.

Is Spaces a full remodeling company?

We're a design studio, not a general contractor. We focus on the design and decision-making part of a kitchen or bath project — concepts, layouts, finishes, product selection — and hand off a clean plan to the contractor of your choice. If you need a referral, we're glad to recommend someone we trust in your area.

How long does the process take?

Most clients receive their initial concept direction within five to seven days of submitting the intake. Refinement happens on your schedule — some people land on their direction in a single call, others like to take a couple of weeks to sit with it. We don't rush you.

What if I already have ideas I love?

Even better. Share everything — reference images, Pinterest boards, the tile you saw at a hotel. We'll take your inspiration seriously and build around it, rather than hand you a generic result.

How much does it cost?

See our services page for current packages. Starter concept work begins in the low hundreds; deeper design and specification packages scale with the size and complexity of your project. We're transparent about pricing up front — no surprises.

Do you work outside of kitchens and baths?

Occasionally. Mudrooms, laundry rooms, vanities, and entertaining spaces like a basement bar are natural extensions of our work. For whole-home interior design, we'll point you to a trusted partner.

What happens to my photos after I upload them?

Your photos are used only for your project and kept private. We don't share them, publish them, or use them in marketing unless you explicitly grant permission after your project wraps.

Ready when you are

Start with a few photos. We'll take it from there.

The intake takes about ten minutes and you'll hear from us within a day.
